7 year old Dublin girl to donate 16 inches of her hair in memory of her friend

This is so touching.

A seven-year-old Dublin girl is donating 16 inches of her hair in memory of her friend.

Lucie Perry decided to donate her hair after her classmate in Junior infants lost her battle with cancer.

Lucie’s mum explained her daughter’s goal on their GoFundMe page;

“My 7 yr old Daughter Lucie has been growing her beautiful hair to be like her favourite childrens character “Rapunzel” .

2 years ago when Lucie was just 5 years old & in junior infants one of her little  class mates fell ill & through treatment lost all of her beautiful hair & very sadly passed away, this began Lucies questions of ” if I donate my hair can they make a wig & send it up to heaven so Erica can have beautiful hair again”

This is something she has not dropped & now being a little older realises there are many children still here who are ill or have conditions which result in hair loss  & she really wants to help make them happy by helping to make wigs to help make them smile  again.

So the time has come for me to stop being sad about her cutting her hair & ending her own dream of one day having hair like ” Rapunzel ” and supporting her in doing such a kind caring & beautiful act for other children.

So Lucie will be donating 16 inches of her hair to The Rapunzel foundation along with any sponsorship she receives & donations.”

Lucie’s mum Sharon hopes that they can raise €500 for the Rapunzel foundation which helps improve the lives of people who have suffered hair loss from medical conditions.

Lucie is already halfway there but if you would like to help her get over the finish line you can by donating to her fundraising page here.
