The child is reportedly feral and doesn’t respond to human interaction.
The Times of India reports that a young girl, believed to be between 8 and 10-years-old, was rescued by police in January from a troop of monkeys in the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary.
A police inspector on a routine patrol came across the girl and a group of apes. When the officer attempted to approach her the monkeys reportedly screeched at him, as did the young girl.
The officer eventually managed to rescue her and she was admitted to hospital in Bahraich, a town in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India.

Since being admitted, the girl has reportedly responded well to treatment, although she can neither speak nor understand language.
Indian police are now reviewing cases of missing children in recent years in an attempt to identify the young girl.
