Now Curvy Kate, a British lingerie brand that specialises in bra sizes D-K is launching a competition to find the next face of Curvy Kate. They make a not-so-subtle reference to the Victoria Secrets campaign. "We came up with the idea as we truly believe that there isn't one type of perfect," Chantelle Crabb, a PR and marketing exec with Curvy Kate, told Glamour UK. "The women in the [Victoria's Secret] campaign are beautiful, but we think that every woman is beautiful in her own right and should be represented fairly in the media too." Today is the last day to vote for the 10 finalists. The Victoria's Secret model of highly airbrushed and unattainable perfection is looking increasingly outdated as more consumers are demanding diversity and variety in the fashion industry. France just banned the use of dangerously underweight models in fashion campaigns and in the US Lane Bryant, a clothing company that specialises in sizes 14-28, is name checking the Victoria's Secret 'angels' with a new campaign, #imnoangel.
