A UK Granny Has Become Britain’s Oldest Mother of Triplets

Katie Mythen-Lynch

A British woman has become the UK’s oldest mother of triplets after spending almost €27,000 on IVF.

Mason, Ryan and Lily were born to Sharon Cutts (55) and her partner Stuart Reynolds (40) on March 21 in Nottingham, each weighing between 4lb and 5lb.

The couple, who live in Boston, Lincolnshire, didn’t qualify for the treatment on the NHS (the upper age limit is 42) so they borrowed the money and travelled to Cyprus after finding a private clinic that would provide the treatment there.

After a rough pregnancy and an 11-week stay in hospital, the couple are thrilled with their thriving brood. Sharon, who is also mum to four adult children aged between 19 and 26 (her four grandchildren will be older than their new aunt and uncles), told The Sun:

‘At the scan we were told there were three heartbeats. Stuart was shocked and I was in tears, crying with joy.

‘The first thing I thought was: “Oh my God, how am I going to cope?”.

Mr Reynolds said: ‘I was excited, and then bricking it. Now they’re here I wouldn’t change it for the world.’

Sharon, a staff nurse, raised eyebrows by admitting she went to extra lengths to appear like a younger mums, turning to Botox to smooth those worry lines: ‘I only injected a little bit, because really you shouldn’t do it while you’re pregnant. I gave myself a dose while I was staying in the maternity ward for 11 weeks’.
