Aliyah Jaicos sadly died in the hotel pool tragedy

The mother of eight-year-old Aliyah Jaico, who tragically lost her life in a swimming pool accident, has paid tribute to her daughter.

On Saturday, March 23rd, little Aliyah Jaico’s body was found following the tragic accident in a hotel swimming pool.

The DailyMail reports that before the devastating discovery, an extensive search was launched to find the missing girl after her family was unable to locate her after a swim in a lazy river-style pool at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Texas.

Aliyah’s family reported her missing at 9.45 pm on Saturday.

After she was alerted missing, the Houston Fire Department inspected four of the pool’s pipes but were initially unable to find her.

Police spokesperson, John Cannon, told US media that his team continued to search through the hotel.

At the same time, Miller’s Search and Rescue — a nonprofit organisation — reviewed the hotel’s security footage.

Sadly, footage showed the young girl pulled under the water and not resurfacing.

After witnessing the harrowing footage, the pool was drained and a small remote camera was inserted 20 feet into the pipes via a pole.

The use of a scent-tracking dog was also employed that night at approximately 11.30 pm, which led to the discovery of Aliyah’s body, according to City of Houston News.

Aliyah’s preliminary cause of death is noted as ‘drowning and mechanical asphyxia’, according to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science.

Following the tragic incident, Aliyah’s mother, Daniela, has spoken out about the grief of losing her little girl, who had a ‘noble heart’.

“They say we all have our destiny marked… but I can’t understand why yours was like this…” she wrote on Facebook.

“Thank you my love for the 8 years you gave me by your side. Thank you my girl for teaching me what love is and a noble heart.”

“I hope to see you again one day and you’ll keep looking at me and you’ll get that big smile that was contagious with joy,” she continued in Spanish.

“You gave yourself to love always with your heart so noble. I will love you for all eternity. You are the most beautiful thing God has given me and after every battle we went through together we didn’t win this one.”

“Rest in peace my beautiful Wera. Forever you.”

Sky News reports that the family is suing the hotel for more than $1m in damages.

According to Houston Public Media, the pool has been closed off and will remain closed until ‘all violations are corrected and pool passes reinspection’.

Our thoughts are with the family of Aliyah Jaico family during this unimaginably difficult time.
