Amy Schumer uses popularity to raise awareness for her dad’s medical condition

Sharyn Hayden

The title of this piece was almost ‘Amy Schumer wins at everything. Again’ and I know I’m not alone when I say OH MY GOD WE LOVE HER, right?!

She is everything we want in a best mate – she’s down-to-earth, gorgeous, has a wicked sense of humour and doesn’t give a shit about the critics.

As the most popular girl on the block at the moment, she has inherited that Hollywood misfortune of courting outrageous levels of paparazzi interest over every fart and fiddle.

The latest ‘news off the press’ is that Amy has a lovely new boyfriend. Why anyone should be surprised to such an extent that the news almost broke the frickin internet is beyond us, but we just adore how La Schumer responded to the attention.

Posting a pic of the happy couple to her Twitter page, she captioned it with something so simple and beautiful: a link to donate to Multiple Sclerosis research.

Amy’s dad was diagnosed with MS when she was just twelve years old and she has continuously used her stardom to raise awareness and funding for research.

Even the main character’s father in ‘Trainwreck’ – which Schumer wrote and starred in last year – battled the disease which was one of the central themes of the film.

Isn’t it just so refreshing to see a Hollywood actress commit to something real instead of just ‘fame’? We literally couldn’t be any more impressed.
