Athlete Rebecca Adlington has issued a heartbreaking statement following the loss of her baby girl

Rebecca Adlington confirmed on Instagram that her baby girl sadly passed away at 20 weeks. The mum said doctors discovered there was no heartbeat during her 20-week scan. In a heartbreaking statement, Adlington said her daughter was stillborn. "I don't really have the words right now but unfortunately we went for our 20-week scan this week and they found no heartbeat. "I gave birth to our angel, Harper on Friday at 7 pm. We held her and had time with her," the mum shared. "We will forever love and remember her always." Rebecca took the time to praise the hospital staff who cared for her during the harrowing loss.

"I don't have the strength or words right now and don't feel ready to share this news. However, I can't pretend to be ok or fake a smile," Rebecca said.

"I can't have people ask me how pregnancy is or when I am due as I still look pregnant. I don't have the strength to tell this news individually," she explained. "We are so truly heartbroken.
