It has been 18 years since the first Princess Diaries film aired, 15 years since the second and now, we’re beyond ready for a new instalment.

While in London to promote her new film, The Hustle, which the Queen of Genovia stars in alongside the ever-so-funny, Rebel Wilson, Anne gave us a little update on returning to royalty.

“We’re just going to have to see what Disney does next. It’s all in Disney’s court.”

Continuing, Anne chatted about the first Princess Diaries film which aired 18 years ago, the star explained that she cannot believe the impact that it still has on people.

“I never imagined that it would be as significant 20 years later but, I have little girls coming up to me all the time and they watch it in their sleepovers and I have girls in their twenties come up to me and say ‘oh my God, this was my favourite movie growing up’ and it’s such a gift and I can’t believe that was kind of… my first go at it.”

If that’s not the reassurance needed to film a third movie, we don’t know what is.

Anne also chatted about her latest project The Hustle which she stars in alongside Rebel Wilson. In the movie Anne (Josephine) acts as a well-knowledged con artist who takes clumsy Rebel (Penny) under her wing for some much-needed tuition on how to rob men blindly and with sophistication.

Speaking about The Hustle, Anne revealed that she “switches” personalities with Rebel when it comes to taking to the screen. The 36-year-old noted that she’s the one who cracks jokes while Rebel, in real life, is actually more serious.

“She’s the one who’s more focused and then you yell ‘action’ and we switch personalilites”, the star added.
