Another presenter is set to leave Ireland AM amid a revamp to the show

So many changes.

We’re just about getting over Sinead Desmond’s exit from Ireland AM, and now it looks like another one might be following her. Longstanding host Mark Cagney is reportedly set to leave the show.

While Sinead left over pay discrepancy between herself and her fellow hosts, Mark is believed to be leaving the show when it revamps next year.

A source told The Mail on Sunday, “Mark is due to hang up his mic next year, so they are planning to revamp the show.”

TV3 and Mark have yet to comment on these reports.

At the time of Sinead’s exit, the station released a vague statement saying, “Sinéad Desmond has decided to leave Ireland AM after 11 years working on the show. We would like to thank Sinéad and wish her well for the future.”

But, it was then revealed that she left the show due to an alleged gender pay gap row. It’s thought that she was on a different, less favourable contract, to her colleagues, including Mark Cagney and Alan Hughes.

Her replacement has yet to be announced, although fellow Ireland AM star Ciara Doherty has been filling in since her departure. If Mark is set to leave, it would be interesting to see what way they take the show.
