Lisa Armstrong liked several messages of support
Lisa Armstrong has broken her social media hiatus to like messages of support from fans following her husband’s drink-driving conviction.
Returning to social media she liked tweets that read “sending you lots of love & hugs. Thinking that you could probably do with them today” and “sending you a little hug.”
She split with Ant McPartlin in January 2018 after he admitted himself to rehab for alcohol and painkiller addiction.
Earlier this year McPartlin was charged with drink-driving following a car crash and failed breathalyser test.
On Tuesday he pleaded guilty and was fined £86,000 and handed a 20-month road ban.
The fine works out at 4.5 days wages for the presenter, who it was revealed earns £130,000 per week.
His driving ban will be reduced by five months if he attends a drink-driving referral course.
Speaking outside the court, the 42-year-old said: “I just wanted to say that I am truly sorry for what happened.
“I’m truly sorry for what happened. Higher standards are expected of me.
“I let myself down, I let a lot of people down, for that I’m truly sorry.
“I’d like to apologise to everyone involved in the crash and I’m just thankful no-one was seriously hurt.”
It has been claimed that both McPartlin’s mother and sober coach Christine Woodhall – the passengers in the car at the time of the accident – did not know that he was over the limit.
During proceedings district judge Barbara Barnes told him: “At the time when it happened you were struggling with various personal problems and also alcohol issues for some months. This incident happened, sadly, when it seems you suffered a brief relapse. I think it will have quite an impact on you to know you’re no longer a man of good character.”
And all while this was going on, another car crash happened in the background as BBC reported the verdict.
