17 young children in Spain have been diagnosed with werewolf syndrome, a condition that causes large amounts of hair to grow all over your body including your face.
The sudden rise in diagnosis seems to stem from a medicine mix up with hair loss treatment minoxidil accidentally coming into contact with reflux medicine for infants.
It is still unclear how the mix-up, which was discovered in June, originally occurred and the incident is still being investigated.
The medicine itself has been pulled from circulation.
The laboratory that supplied the drug to pharmacists was shut down, the medicine was taken off the market, and officials have begun an investigation https://t.co/9JW6uz8IOd

According to the Guardian when speaking on the subject health minister, Maria Luisa Carcedo said;
‘they found that the bad batches came from a laboratory that had “put this medication [minoxidil] in a container that was marked omeprazole” and distributed it to pharmacies as such.’
Officials also said that the children affected are being treated for their symptoms and that the condition should be fully reversible.
