“I have a one-year-old nephew, and I think he’d be the best grandad.”

Beauty blogger Bonnie Ryan has paid tribute to her late father Gerry Ryan during a recent podcast appearance.

In conversation with Georgie Crawford on The Good Glow podcast, Bonnie spoke about how the radio presenter would have made an excellent grandfather. She also shared how it becomes easier to deal with grief over time.

She explained that she doesn’t wake up every morning feeling the shock of the loss, or with a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.

“You wake up and he’s not the first thing on my mind anymore,” she explained. She added that she is “grateful” for this, as previously it was “too painful”.

The influencer continued: “As I move on in life and I get to have all these big moments or just live my life, I’m like God, it would be so cool if he could be here to see this.

She added that there are times when it is still very hard, but acknowledged that even you lose someone, you can still “be very happy in life”.

“I’m just grateful I had him,” she said.

She also spoke to Georgie about how she felt his presence at her recent wedding in Italy.

“I think my dad is in my family,” she said. “I don’t need to be conscious in thinking, ‘Is he here, does he know I’m getting married?’ I’m telling you now, my Dad is not missing my wedding day. I know he saw me getting married, there is no doubt about it in my mind.”

Bonnie’s father Gerry passed away suddenly in 2010 at his home in Leeson Street in Dublin. She was just a teenager at the time.
