Born In The 80s? You’re Going To Love Despicable Me 3

Alison Bough

The Despicable Me 3 trailer is out and the movie looks set to appeal to those of us born in the best decade ever, the 1980s.

Gru, his Minions, and the Anti-Villain League are coming back to our screens and this time they are up against the coolest bad guy yet. The brilliantly-named Balthazar Bratt is a former ’80s child star whose tv show got cancelled when he hit puberty. Bratt is now set on revenge through world domination, whilst sporting a classic mullet, a purple jumpsuit complete with obligatory shoulder pads, and moonwalking to Michael Jackson’s Bad.

Gru (voiced by the eternally funny Steve Carrell) and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig, one of my top funny girl-crushes) set out to defeat Balthazar by means of a dance-off. Excellent.

This will be the fourth movie in Illumination Entertainment’s multi-billion-dollar franchise. The films have grossed $1.2 billion worldwide. Despicable Me 3 is set to hit cinemas next June and I plan to push some kids out of the way to be first in line.
