The man police believe is responsible for this week’s horrific attack on a Berlin Christmas market has been killed in a shoot out with police.Â
Twelve people died and at least 48 more were injured, many seriously, after an articulated truck ploughed through crowds on Breitscheidplatz in west central Berlin on December 19.
The incident, which police have described as deliberate, happened at approximately 9pm local time as revellers were enjoying mulled wine outside the Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church.
Now reports confirm that Anis Amri, whose fingerprints were allegedly found on the steering wheel of the hijacked truck, has been shot dead in the Italian City of Milan, after being stopped by police carrying out routine checks.
#Amri 's brother via phone on his death: "We are shocked and the whole family is in a bad situation. No comment".

Reports say that the 24-year-old Tunisian was asked for his ID near the railway station of Sesto San Giovanni in the early hours of this morning and pulled a gun on officers.
Having shot a police officer, Amri was shot by police and killed.
What we know about Amri's route so far, according to Milan terror chief: Chambéry, France –> Turin –> Milan, arrival at 1am last night
