Photographer Melissa Jean Wilbraham is the latest victim of a breastfeeding Instabanning.

The Queensland Sunshine Coast Maternity Hospital photographer had her beautiful maternity images removed from the photo sharing site Instagram on the cusp of World Breastfeeding Week.

Melissa’s raw images capture the beauty of pregnancy, labour pain, childbirth and breastfeeding in inspiring xposé shots. Her honest work is a journey into the female form and the strength of women and new mums.

According to Instagram’s basic terms, users must not post ‘violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic or sexually suggestive photos or other content.’ The outrageous act of censorship has become a viral sensation.

She posted this statement to Facebook: ‘How ironic: ‘World Breastfeeding Week’ began, my business is removed from Instagram. There will always be sad humans who report my images but I will NEVER let this stop me celebrating & normalizing life ‪#‎bringbackmelissajeanbabies‬ ‪#‎bringbackmelissajean‬.’

Her account has gained over ten thousand followers and the support of her outspoken fans has seen her account and ultimately her baby photography business, reinstated online. High-five – let’s hope this is the last time the miracle of life is deemed ‘inappropriate’ to celebrate.
