Brendan Fraser said he was constantly looking for cures at first.

Actor Brendan Fraser said he blamed himself after his son was diagnosed with autism.

The actor opened up about his family during an interview on The Howard Stern Show.

The Whale star said he felt guilty after hearing his son had autism.

He explained;

“The first reaction that I had was, ‘I want to know how to fix this. What’s the cure? What does this mean?’,” he said on the hit-US radio show.

“This isn’t the way it’s supposed to turn out. You blame yourself and you think, ‘My genealogy’ or ‘I smoked weed in college’.”

Fraser said he found out about his son Griffin’s autism diagnosis when he was 2 years old.

Despite the initial shock, the dad said he wouldn’t change anything about his son.

He said his son is one of the most joyous people he knows.

The dad explained that his view has completely changed and “wouldn’t have it any other way”.

“He can’t insult you. He’s the happiest person and is, in my life and many others’, also the manifestation of love.”

The Mummy actor is also a dad to two other sons- Holdon and Leland.

He shares all three sons with his ex-wife Afton Smith. The couple married in 1998 but ended their relationship in 2007.
