The dads are expecting their first child together.

Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian have called out people who trolled them over their baby news.

Most people were delighted for the pair, but they were also targeted by trolls.

Speaking to the Sunday World, the pair said they were hit with a small number of “homophobic-fuelled hate” messages.

Luckily, most of the messages they received were positive.

The dads said people also judged them for going down the surrogacy route.

“Before people realized it was a domestic surrogacy and it was Aoife, people just jumped on this bandwagon of, you know, the abuse of women and women being forced into pregnancy and, you know, the hire of a womb and white privilege.”

The dads said they won’t disclose who the biological father of the baby is, with Brian stressing that they’re both the baby’s dad.

Arthur stressed, “Both of us are fathers. There is no one dad, two dads.”

Brian and Arthur revealed Brian’s sister Aoife was their surrogate after announcing their baby news.

Brian has praised his sister for helping their dreams come true.

The Big Brother host said his sister has gone “above and beyond” for him and his husband Arthur.

The family first considered surrogacy in 2019.

The presenter praised his sister for “giving us the gift of life”.

“From ultrasounds and ovulation tests to numerous conversations about your cycle to those 4 positive pregnancy tests we took where the 3 of us hugged & cried with happiness & excitement.

“We have been through every step of this together reassuring each other along the way that everything will be fine once we stick together.”

Brian and Arthur will welcome their first child together later this year.
