Bride distraught after best friend copies her wedding

Ouch.

A lot of time and effort goes into organising a wedding so when something happens to thwart those carefully-laid plans, we imagine things get ugly. One bride is experiencing this predicament at the moment because after organising her dream day, her best friend has only gone and copied her. The cheek. It turns out that the bride had organised a 'wedding weekend' and after finding out she was pregnant, her best friend changed her original date to do the same. To begin with, her friend had a church wedding planned for September but she's just gone and changed the plans to go to the same venue. Below is an excerpt from the Mumsnet post.

"Only now, BF has announced that the wedding plans have changed as she is 8 weeks pregnant....and that she has just booked the same house and is planning to invite close family and friends to join them for a relaxing weekend away to celebrate their wedding - 5 weeks before my wedding! "Our friendship group is the same, so other than family, we will have the same guests. "Basically, now her wedding will be almost the same as mine, but as hers is first, I'm the one that will look like I copied her!"

This bride-to-be took to Mumsnet to share her woes and ask for advice on what to do in such an awkward situation. She asked people if she was being unreasonable about the fact that she had 'stolen' her wedding and the general reaction was that her best friend was out of line. Comments on the post included:

"Very poor form of her and I’d be sure to tell her your feelings. "That is a really horrible thing to do. "I’d be really cross and upset. Yes some weddings are similar but this is a direct copy. It’s like she’s had some imagination breakdown and just used your idea. Very selfish. "Very upsetting. You need to tell her that you don’t want to fall out but this is really unfair and rude of her. Is there nowhere else in the country that could have their wedding?!"
