Dublin bridal store closes down and brides are absolutely devastated

A Dublin bridal store has shut its doors for the final time.

The abrupt closure means its customers will not only lose out on getting their dress, but they have also lost money in the lead up to their big day.

Berkedex Bridal, a UK chain with a store in the Jervis Shopping Centre announced this week that it is shutting down, and closed its doors for the last time on Tuesday.

The bridal boutique posted a statement on Facebook, saying:

This company has ceased to trade with immediate effect. This shop, and all other outlets trading as Berketex Bride, will be closed from 13 November 2018 and will not re-open.

Wilson Field Limited of the Manor House, 260 Ecclesall Road South, Sheffield S11 9PS have been instructed to assist the company.

A notice of intention to appoint administrators over the company was filed on Friday 9 November 2018 in the High Court of justice, Manchester under court number 3401 of 2018.

This provides protection for the company from the actions of its creditors meaning no enforcement action should be taken in recovery of liabilities without leave of court.

One bride commented on the post saying: “Utterly disgusted at the way this has been handled. Finding out you may have lost hundreds of pounds and still may have no dress through Facebook is just wrong. Heartbroken right now.”

While another said: “Absolutely heartbroken! I can’t believe it, I paid for my dress/veil in full only a couple of months ago using a debit card. I don’t know how the company could be this heartless as to continue selling these dresses knowing full well what was to come. I feel sorry for all of the staff losing jobs over it too.”
