The actor is set to star alongside The Theory of Everything actress Felicity Jones.
Harry Potter alum Jason Isaacs will also appear in the movie.
They will star in the romantic comedy Maria.
And it’s safe to say it is a far cry from Bridgerton.
Simon Astell will write and direct the movie.
Maria follows a young woman who is struggling to accept reality.
She can’t face her age, her boyfriend’s love, or her father’s indifference, but things change when she finds an opportunity to feel young and free again.
At her father’s wedding, she meets Raffy, who she has undeniable chemistry with, but he turns out to be her stepbrother.
As well as her complicated feelings, Maria also has to cope with her father’s terminal illness.
The movie will begin shooting in the United Kingdom and America this Autumn.
Jones stars as Maria, Bailey plays her boyfriend Eddy and Jason Isaacs will play Maria’s father.
Filming is not set to clash with Bailey’s Bridgerton schedule. Fans will be relieved to know the actor is returning for season 3 of Bridgerton.
The creators have yet to confirm the main storyline for season 3, but Bailey will return as Viscount Anthony Bridgerton.
His co-star and on-screen wife Simone Ashley will also return for season 3.
