Broadway actress Ruthie Ann Miles has lost the baby she was carrying just weeks after her daughter was killed in a car accident.

Ruthie, her four-year-old daughter Abigail, Ruthie’s friend Lauren Lew and Lew’s son Josh, 1, were crossing the road in Brooklyn, New York, in March when they were hit by a car.

The driver tried to speed away and dragged one-year-old Josh down the road in his pram for over 100 feet before she crashed into a parked car. Both Josh and Abigail were killed.

Now Ruthie has lost the baby she was carrying at 39 weeks, a rep for the actress has said.

She and husband Jonathan Blumenstein had chosen the name Sophia Rosemary for the baby.

“At the time of the crash Ruthie was pregnant and was severely injured,” Ben Rabinowitz told New York Daily News.

“This past Friday Ruthie and Jonathan lost their baby, Sophia Rosemary Wong Blumenstein.

“The pain suffered by Ruthie and Jonathan is nearly impossible to fathom.”

Dorothy Bruns, the driver, has been charged with manslaughter.

She had been told by doctors not to drive due to a number of ailments including multiple sclerosis and seizures.

Ruthie has had roles in productions including Avenue Q, Here Lies Love and The King and I, for which she won a Tony award.
