"We are not in the dark ages"
Helen George has hit back over "ridiculous" comments about being pregnant during Call The Midwife filming.
The actress, who plays Nurse Trixie on the show, was expecting her second child during the filming of the 11th season.
One viewer claimed the actress was "unprofessional" for getting pregnant during the show.
They tweeted, "It’s very unprofessional in my opinion. It’s not as if it’s filmed all year round.
The viewer added, "It’s a short window. She should quit if she wants to be pregnant while filming. It ruins continuity and the aesthetics of the show.”
The actress slammed the ludicrous claims.
Actresses shouldn't have to schedule their pregnancies around filming. There's nothing wrong with it whatsoever and if viewers can't accept it then maybe stop watching the show?
Helen tweeted, "
I’ve seen too many ridiculous comments about my pregnancy whilst filming Call The Midwife."

Women get pregnant, our bodies change. But we have the right to work if we choose to do so. How about just supporting it, and don’t question it?"
Fans of the actress were quick to defend her.
One wrote, "What's wrong with working whilst pregnant? All women should have full support to work. Jeez, we are not in the dark ages."
Another added, "I hadn’t even realised she was pregnant. I was more involved with the story, amazing script, and acting. I'd rather have Helen with a disguised pregnancy than not at all."
"I applaud you for even working in a show while pregnant that doesn't always have positive storylines regarding pregnancy. Takes guts," one wrote.
Another praised the Call The Midwife team for disguising Helen's bump as she continued to play Nurse Trixie.
"Clever camera work has been abundant this series of Call the Midwife, not just for you but to enable Covid safety during filming. Well done all involved."
Helen gave birth to her second child- a daughter named Lark last November.
Call The Midwife continues next Sunday at 8 pm.
