I’m thinking of stopping Santa gifts because of how my kids are behaving- am I going too far?

Have you ever considered cancelling Christmas?

One mum has admitted she is thinking about making a major change to the holiday season because of how her children are behaving.

She has two children- one is nearly 3-years-old and 6-years-old.

“We seem to be going through a phase of not listening, not following instructions, and being destructive. Both of them undid seat belts today and stood in the back of the car whilst I was driving! They’ve ripped books, thrown toys, switched the tv off because they didn’t want to watch the other child’s program, ripped wallpaper, squeezed out toothpaste and face wash, soaked the bathroom floor, wasted 2 rolls of loo roll in 3 days.”

The mum said her children do these things right in front of her face.

Christmas

“I do punish but they will then repeat the behaviour.”

She admitted, “I feel like my punishments aren’t enough, they just don’t seem to care.”

The mum has already purchased all of their Christmas gifts, but she is now considering cancelling Christmas.

“They have no respect for me, the toys they already have, the house, the dogs or each other! We do naughty steps and send them to their rooms and “stay where I can see you”. They cry at any of these 3 punishments but then just carry on being a nuisance. I’m at a loss as to what else to do.”

She is thinking about not giving them their Santa gifts this year.

“Can Santa not bring anything because they were naughty? Or maybe a bag of coal-shaped marshmallows in their stockings? I’m debating buying them a small something each from Argos 2 for £15 deal and putting that in their Santa sacks. Maybe spend £5 each in the pound shop to fill it out a bit but that’s not what they’re asking for. So Santa would come but not bring what they asked for?”

“I definitely don’t think they deserve the £125-£185 worth of gifts they want from Santa!”

What would you do if you were this mum?
