Family has lucky escape after jeep reverses into buggy in Cork

Gardaí in Cork responded to the incident on Sunday.

A young couple and their infant avoided serious injury following an accident in Cork city.

The family was nearly hit by a jeep after it reversed at a pedestrian crossing.

Gardaí and paramedics attended the scene following the accident.

The incident occurred at the junction at Marlboro Street on Sunday, April 23rd.

The vehicle hit a pole and the buggy at around 11.30 am.

The infant was not injured, but their father was knocked to the ground.

The dad was later hospitalised, but only with minor injuries.

It is believed the infant is only 6 months old.

Road closures were put in place following the accident.

A Garda spokesperson told CorkBeo:

“Gardaí are currently at the scene of a road traffic incident on Patrick Street in Cork this afternoon, Sunday 23rd April 2023.

“Patrick Street is currently closed and local diversions are in place,” they said.
