Dad calls out waterpark after staff weighed his teenage daughter

A father in America has slated a waterpark after its staff humiliated his daughter.

The dad explained that before going on one of the rides, the staff made his daughter to weigh herself.

The ride she wanted to go on has a weight limit, but the young girl was only 5 pounds over it.

Speaking to local station KMOV, the dad said his daughter was very hurt.

“The guy looked at us and to my daughter and said, ‘You need to step on the scale’. She steps on the scale and she’s 205.”

The dad said his daughter was gutted when she was turned away from the Mississippi Monster ride.

He also said it was wrong of the park to weigh a young girl like that.

Speaking about the incident at Raging Rivers waterpark, the dad said his daughter’s eyes were welling up with tears when she was turned away.

“Let’s leave out the amazing damagingly psychological impact of forcing a young woman to publicly weigh herself.”

The dad said there was no prior mention of a weight limit. He has also stressed that they won’t be returning to the park.

He said the staff felt terrible about the weight restriction.

The experience “negatively impacted my daughter in a way that I am sure we are going to be discussing in therapy for years to come”.

The Raging Rivers team responded to the backlash and have promised to increase the weight capacity.

“Raging Rivers takes an abundance of precautions to ensure the safety of our guests while enjoying our slides and attractions. The new Mississippi Monster Slide has a max weight limit.”

The park also clarified that there is signage at the base of the slide.

“In addition, there is a scale that all guests who choose to ride the attraction must step on to ensure they meet the safety requirements for the ride.”

The park told KMOV that they’re ordering new tubes for the slide so they can “increase the weight capacity”.

“Safety is critical to us and for our guests.”
