This got us right in the feels..

Fans of RTE’s hit TV show, DIY SOS were left in tears after an emotional first episode last night.

Baz Ashmawy returned for the fourth season of the show with a former international basketball player who won the hearts of the nation for sure.

He arrived in County Cork to meet 22-year-old, Adam Drummond who was recently told he has 1% chance of ever walking again.

Adam suffered a bad fall in May 2021 and has been adjusting to life in a wheelchair ever since. Already very difficult, things are made worse because Adam’s family home is not suitable for a wheelchair user.

Adam said: “I can’t accept what the rest of my life is going to be but I’m getting on with it. The past year has been a year of grieving but I’m getting there.”

Baz and his group of 1,100 volunteers worked on the nine-day rebuild that included the installation of two lifts and a two-storey extension.

The host said during the show: “It’s as human as the need for food, the need to have a place you can call home. Where there’s a will, there are warriors.”

The project was completed successfully with Adam returning to his home on the anniversary of his accident.

He said the new family home will allow him “to be the new version” of himself.

Fans took to Twitter following the show to show their support to Adam and to praise him for his upbeat and positive attitude.

Baz and his team of heroes were also celebrated.

One user wrote: “So happy to see #DIYSOS back. The best show that reminds us at the right time that there are the best of people out there who just want to help and be there for others.

“Best wishes to Adam and his family. There is huge potential in Adam to be a total legend! Go get it.”

Another said: “That was a very emotional #DIYSOS wishing Adam and his family all the very best in their beautiful transformed home.”

One viewers Tweeted: “I’m not sure I have the strength to get through #DIYSOSIrl without being reduced to a blubbering wreck.”
