Downton Abbey is set to return to TV. According to reports, the beloved TV show is making a comeback.

Following the success of both Downton Abbey movies and the original series, creators are reportedly planning on bringing the show back.

They’re aware of how successful the show was and believe it is time to bring it back, but will the original cast return?

Fans will unsurprisingly be thrilled to hear about the show’s return.

If plans go ahead, the show will return for a seventh season after 8 years off-air.

A source told MailOnline, “There is a plan which is in development and there is a lot of excitement about it.”

“There is casting taking place, and it would be great if all of the big stars can return,” they said.

“People loved Downton. It became a British institution and it has been much missed since it left our screens,” the source added.

Producers are eager to get the original case back for another TV installment, including Hugh Bonneville, Allen Leech, and Michelle Dockery.

Downton Abbey’s final episode aired in 2015, but two feature films followed after the show’s success.

The show ran for six series and featured some of the biggest names in film and TV including Maggie Smith, Dan Stevens, Lily James, and Richard E. Grant.

The last Downton Abbey movie was released in 2022.
