We have only waited 13 years to be able to type in a postcode when buying something from Amazon.com but, hey, better late than never.
Eircode, Ireland’s new postcode system has been launched this morning. It will help people to find businesses and people all over Ireland with less hassle and fewer mistakes.
All businesses will simply add an Eircode to their address today, which is a seven-character code made up of two parts.
The reaction on Twitter has been a predominantly positive one, and the excitement of online shopping is strong.
Happy shopping…

I'll miss the excitement of entering 0000 as my postcode on non-Irish websites, and seeing if they'll accept it. #eircode #notvalid

In the UK you can enter any postcode into Google Maps and get a location. Guess what happens when you enter an #eircode?
