Anna Geary bravely opens up about the hard parts of motherhood

Kat O'Connor

Anna Geary has opened up about the reality of being a mum and we love her for it.

Becoming a mum for the first time is a rollercoaster of emotions. It’s one of the best things that will ever happen to you, but it’s also one of the most overwhelming times in your life.

One person who knows all about that feeling is new mum and GAA player Anna Geary.

Anna Geary gave birth to her first child – a baby boy called Ronan – earlier this year and she has been documenting her motherhood journey ever since.

Anna’s son changed her life for the better but that hasn’t stopped her from shying away from discussing the harder parts of motherhood.

The new mum said we’re all guilty of glossing over the tougher parts of parenthood, but it isn’t worth it. Being honest and real about what we’re going through is better for us in the long run.

Speaking in a beautifully honest interview with the RTÉ Guide, the TV presenter said motherhood can be challenging.

Everyone has those moments when the tougher parts of motherhood gets to them.

She shared: “It is okay to have a moment with your baby where you think, “My God, this is the best thing in my life. I can’t imagine my life without them.” But equally, it is okay to have a moment to have a cry too, because they won’t sleep or they won’t go into their car seat.”

Anna gave birth to her baby boy Ronan on August 1st.

She confirmed her son’s arrival by posting a beautiful black and white photo of her little boy on Instagram.

The Ireland’s Fittest Family star said: “Arrived slightly ahead of schedule, he couldn’t wait to get here. Welcome to the world, Ronan Sexton 01/08/2023.”

We love how honest Anna is about being a mum and couldn’t agree with her more. There will be ups and there will be downs and accepting that makes your life that little bit easier.
