Singer Britney Spears has bravely opened up about her decision to have an abortion.
Britney Spears’ memoir ‘The Woman In Me’ will be published on October 24th and snippets of the book have been released ahead of its publication date.
In the emotional memoir, Britney opens up about various aspects of her life, including her past relationships.
The mum-of-two has not shied away from discussing everything from her conservatorship, to her relationship with Justin Timberlake, and her choice to have an abortion.
In a snippet of the novel obtained by People, Britney revealed she chose to have an abortion because she felt she was too young to be a parent.
She also said Justin Timberlake wasn’t ready to be a father.
The ‘Toxic’ singer writes: “It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.
“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”
Spears said it was one of the most “agonizing” experiences of her life.
Spears became a mum following her split from Timberlake. She shares two sons- Sean Preston and Jayden James- with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
