Kate Middleton and Prince William open up about ‘competitive rivalry’ in the Royal Family

Royals, eh? They’re just like us.

Kate Middleton and Prince William have shared some anecdotes about the ‘competitive rivalry’ within the Royal Family.

The royal couple share three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 5 – and it seems that not even royal status can stop a sibling rivalry.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are determined to see their children get involved in sports and this has naturally sparked a competitive streak in them.

They appeared on a special episode of England rugby player Mike Tindall, James Haskell, and Alex Payne’s podcast, The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, where they discussed the trait that Kate seems to believe comes from their father.

“Just how competitive are both of you? James asked the pair.

“Because, Mike, I’m not going to lie, but he has made out [that] both of you are super, super competitive, a bit like Monica and Chandler from Friends.”

Kate defended James’ comparison by laughing and answering, “I’m really not that competitive; I don’t know where this has come from!’ which prompted a wink from her husband.

She did, however, say that playing tennis against her husband was a ‘mental challenge’ between the two of them and admitted she has never been able to complete a full game.

Mike, who has been married to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter Zara since 2011, was also joined by his mother-in-law, Princess Anne, who weighed in on the royal children’s ‘competitive rivalry.’

Princess Anne answered that Kate and William’s children were a ‘little’ competitive with their mother backing up that they all have ‘very different temperaments.’

“And as they’re growing and trying out different sports—they’re obviously still really young—it’s going to be interesting to see how that grows and develops.”

Well, if there’s any competition over who pulls the cheekiest faces during public appearances, we think Prince Louis has it in the bag.
