Natasha Bedingfield is a name that seems to be everywhere these days.
The singer was very famous throughout the 2000s – with hits such as These Words, I Wanna Have Your Babies, and Unwritten – however, she stepped away from the limelight in the early 2010s.
Since then, the 42-year-old welcomed a child, a son named Solomon in 2017, with her husband Matt Robinson.
Natasha's 2004 Unwritten has had a recent surge in popularity thanks to the success of the film Anyone But You, bringing the mum back into trends.
However, while she was away from the spotlight, two years after the birth of her son, he developed a serious infection, which led to a brain abscess.
Solomon was admitted to a hospital in LA, something Natasha said improved her outlook on life and made her more grateful.
"Solomon, actually had surgery for a brain abscess just before Covid, when he was two. He’s 100% OK now, but that’s made me cherish everything more”, she told OK!.
“We could have lost our kid. That’s the truth. That’s why I cherish every moment even more now. Even things like travelling back to the UK and seeing family seem so much sweeter.”
Not only did her son's illness make her more appreciative of life, but it also cured Natasha of her germophobia.
“I was a total germophobe before Sol went into hospital. Then, spending that long in one, I just… stopped being so paranoid," the mum-of-one told the outlet.
“I hadn’t realised that germs died after being on surfaces for a while - I thought they lived forever! So, I was kind of cured of that. But most importantly, our son was alive."
The singer also believes that the timeline of Solomon's illness and recovery gave her and her family somewhat of a 'head start' in the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We have a unique experience because we were in the hospital just two months before COVID because Solo had a brain abscess and had to have some surgeries," she explained.
"He's completely recovered now, but we spent a whole five weeks in a tiny little hospital room wearing masks, so we kind of got a head start on what everyone's going through."
