The Princess of Wales has stepped down from royal duties until Easter

The Princess of Wales has been hospitalised for planned abdominal surgery.

The mum-of-three is officially off royal duties until Easter, a royal spokesperson confirmed.

In a statement this afternoon, Kensington Palace announced that Kate was in hospital, but stressed that the surgery was planned.

The surgery was a success, the spokesperson revealed.

However, the mum needs to recover and has decided to step away from royal duties until Easter.

Princess Kate’s doctors have advised her to step away from work until Easter.

They stated:

“Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery.

“Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible, and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” the statement ends.

The spokesperson did not confirm what surgery the mum underwent, but royal fans have been sending in their well wishes following the news.
