She is home in time for Christmas.

Comedian Sandi Toksvig is back home after having been hospitalised with bronchial pneumonia during her Australian tour.

On Twitter, the former Great British Bake Off host posted a picture with her dog and delighted her followers with news that she is home and well. She also credited her wife, Debbie, with her recovery and return to the UK.

“Thanks to my beloved wife, I’m back home in time for Christmas,” she tweeted. “Best present ever!”

Sandi’s Twitter page had been used earlier this month to inform her followers that she was not well, and that the New Zealand leg of her tour had been cancelled.

“Due to illness, Sandi has cancelled the New Zealand leg of her tour,” the update read. “She has been admitted to hospital with bronchial pneumonia while still in Australia and is unable to travel & perform.”

Sandi’s team reiterated that their priority is to get her home to the UK as soon as she is well enough.

In a subsequent update, Sandi thanked her followers for their support, and the Australian health workers who have aided her recovery.

She wrote: “Thank you to everyone who has sent such kind words while I’ve been unwell. I am now out of hospital and continuing my convalescence in Australia until I’m fit to fly home. My undying (literally) thanks to the amazing Australian health service.”
