Firemen help with special delivery as woman gives birth in Tallaght

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Think you’ve had a busy morning? Members of the Dublin Fire Brigade helped deliver a baby in Tallaght this morning, after a woman went into labour at home on the Kingswood Estate.

The experienced crew at fire brigade control guided the family through the labour over the phone as ambulance workers raced to the scene, however the baby was born at the house soon after they arrived at 6am.

“The crews helped at the final moments of the birth and then brought mother and baby to the Coombe hospital where mother and baby were thought to be doing well,” a Dublin Fire Brigade spokeswoman told The Irish Independent.

“We don’t even know yet if the baby is a boy or a girl,” she added.

Just last month, the Dublin Fire Brigade helped deliver a baby girl on the M50.
