A four-year-old from Co. Tipperary has died after an incident in her home which was under construction.

The young girl named Jodie Lawlor Tyrrell was from Knockbrack, Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary.

It is reported that the girl was killed after a fireplace fell on top of her while visiting the family home which was undergoing works on Saturday, October 21.

Emergency services rushed to the scene immediately and the four-year-old was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where she sadly passed away.

According to the Independent.ie, Councillor Peter Ormond expressed his sympathies to the family by saying:

“It’s absolutely terrible, so tragic. Everyone in the community is stunned. People can’t believe that something so tragic could happen to a four-year-old. We all have children and grandchildren and something like this is unimagineable.”

Jodie’s removal will take place tomorrow Tuesday, October 24, with her funeral the following day at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr.
