What’s happening to Dublin? Gardai arrest 15-year-old carrying knuckleduster and vodka

We want to have a healthy vibrant city without people ruining it for others.

Gardai yesterday seized a knuckleduster and bottle of vodka from a child in the Temple Bar area of Dublin.

The details of an alleged theft are not known, but the male child was arrested for handling stolen property, when the contraband items were found on him.

CEO of the Temple Bar company Martin Harte spoke out recently about the antisocial behavior that’s rife in the city: “Last weekend, the city completely transformed. It was alive with people outside enjoying themselves and seeing people they hadn’t seen in a really long time. I was really gutted to see problems again at the weekend. We need to do more.”

Harte’s company look after the interests of businesses in the famous Dublin landmark area and they’re calling for more help from the Gardai: “We need a constant presence in the city, Gardai need to blitz the place. And the only way we can stop trouble is with a very strong visible presence. Not just Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights but 24/7. They need to be dealt with with harsh sanctions and zero tolerance to trouble. We want to have a healthy vibrant city without people ruining it for others.”

As parents, it’s terrifying to consider the intent that goes into carrying a weapon into town. Antisocial behavior is, it seems, its own pandemic in Dublin right now.
