Gardaí were contacted by concerned members of the public who claimed a woman was trying to sell or give away a toddler
It is believed the child involved was a little boy.
The Sun reports that the alleged incident happened outside a shop at around five o’clock in the evening on the 15th of February on the south side of Limerick city.
An investigation has now been launched into the circumstances.
A spokesperson for the Gardaí has released a statement this afternoon:
“Gardaí at Roxboro Road are presently conducting enquiries into the circumstances of the reporting of the incident and possible child welfare issues.”
