15-month-old twin girls, Ariel and Alaynah died tragically earlier this month after they were left in a hot car in Georgia.
The girls who, according to their mother were just beginning to thrive after having been born prematurely, were in the car of their father who is now facing criminal charges. Police do not believe that the 24-year-old father intentionally caused the deaths.
Police believe that while the father was not intoxicated, he had been drinking earlier in the day which may have played a part in the tragedy according to
Fox 5 News. Police were called to the scene, but sadly the girls were unresponsive, at the time of their arrival Police reported witnessing the stricken father desperately trying to cool and revive his girls in a nearby paddling pool while neighbours added ice packs to the water.
Breal Ellis, the mother of the twins, has spoken out about her unimaginable loss:
“I was with them everyday and the one day I left … I just want to tell them I’m sorry.”
“They didn’t deserve to die like that or to die, period, but I know they’re in heaven.”
The day of the accident was the first time she had left her daughters alone in their father's care. She explained that she was hugely protective of them as she had lost another child two years ago.
“They were blessing from God… Wish they were still here… My biggest blessing. I love them to death. They were amazing.”
“They were always happy. They smiled every day.”
The grieving mum was struggling to meet funeral costs when actor and director Tyler Perry became aware of the tragedy and offered to cover the expenses. A GoFundMe campaign has also collected more than $22,000 for the bereaved family.
