Heartbroken Mother Calls for Bridge to be Erected After losing 3-Year-Old Son and his Father

Mum of tragic toddler Tyler Joyce, who died last weekend after an accident at Ashington Park near Dublin’s Royal Canal has spoken out about the heartbreaking loss.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Pamela Joyce paid tribute to her 3-year-old son who she described as “always so happy” and “brought joy to everyone”.

“His favourite song was ‘Happy’ by Pharrel Williams,” she told the newspaper, “He loved that song. He’d ask me to come into bed and he would bounce up and down to the music . . . he loved his dancing.”

The little boy and his father, Seán Sweeney, are believed to have drowned while taking a short cut to Mr. Sweeney’s parents house on Sunday.

A fence has been erected to dissuade people from using the short cut but Pamela Joyce maintains that “young fellas cut it” as they don’t want to go the long way.

Pamela is calling for a bridge to be erected to prevent future accidents as the short cut is frequently used.

“Why can’t they make a little walkway? It’s not going to cost them much.”

“If they do something then we could say that Tyler’s life wasn’t lost, because somebody else was saved.”

“I wouldn’t like any mother to go through this. It’s cruel because he was so intelligent. He never cried. He could have done anything with his life.”

A funeral service will be held for Tyler this Friday.
