A young homeless mum’s artwork will take centre stage this weekend at Art Source fair, in the RDS
The event is one of Ireland’s largest art fairs, showcasing the best of Irish and international art.
Natia Atuashvili, a 33-year-old mother of two, has been living at The Salvation Army’s Clonard Road homeless family hub in Crumlin, Dublin, since 2022.
Originally from Georgia, Natia has found solace and escape in her art during the challenges of homelessness.
“Art really helps me,” Natia shared.
“When I’m drawing and painting, I’m living in another world. I have been in Ireland for seven years, but two of those have been in Clonard Road.
“I’ve been looking for a house for a long time. It is my dream, as it is very stressful for me.”
Natia’s work will be displayed at Art Source in the RDS, running until Sunday evening.
The fair, which opened on Friday, November 15th, is expected to attract more than 15,000 visitors.
Her creations will feature alongside iconic works such as Andy Warhol’s Marilyn series, brought to the event by Merrion Gallery, and stunning motifs by Leah Hewson, daughter of U2 frontman Bono, on display at the Stoney Road Press stand.
Other highlights of the event include Italian artist Paola Di Legge, based in Dun Laoghaire, who uses tactile moss wall art to reconnect people with nature; a Dublin-based astrophotographer capturing breathtaking images of the cosmos; and a Ukrainian refugee who specialises in painting lifelike dog portraits.
Now in its biggest year yet, Art Source has become a destination for art lovers and collectors alike.
Show organizer Patrick O’Sullivan highlighted the growing public interest in art, and said: “Over the past number of years, we have seen that the Irish public have shown an enormous appetite for art.
“Art Source has become a major destination for buyers interested in works from some of the world’s most recognisable artists.”
The event also offers visitors the chance to purchase one-off original artworks and meet the creators behind the pieces.
For Natia, Art Source represents more than just an exhibition – it’s a chance to share her story and talent with the world.
Her journey reflects the resilience and creativity that art can inspire, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Art Source runs at the RDS until Sunday evening. For tickets and more information, visit artsource.ie.
