Experts are weighing in on the big Communion dilemma
Communion season is just around the corner, and many of us are lost when it comes to how much money we should gift on the big day.
The days of giving them a fiver are long gone (unfortunately), and buying them a prayer book as a gift is out of the question.
But how much money should we put in the card?
According to experts at An Post Money, the majority of people are gifting money for a First Holy Communion.
In new research, they revealed that 56% of Irish adults gift €50 or more to a niece or nephew.
Two-thirds said they would do the same for their godchild.
However, many agreed that €20 was plenty for a family friend’s child.
Brendan Moran, Director of Distribution – Retail at An Post, shared:
“Cash remains a meaningful and practical gift that gives children the freedom to save up or buy something special.”
According to a previous study, the average child in Ireland received €588 for making their First Holy Communion.
