Hurrah. Today is predicted to be the hottest day of the year.
Yesterday was a chart-topping 26°C in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, while in other counties temperatures were between 21°C and 25°C.
Met Éireann is predicting highs of 27°C in the Midlands today, which will make today the hottest day of the year.
Of course, we hardly needed Met Éireann to tell us that, it's hotter than the surface of the sun out there.
The hottest day of the year thus far has been 25.7 °C, recorded at Shannon Airport on the 8th June.
However while the temperatures are looking balmy, things could be turning tropical later in the day – as in tundra tropical. As with all things Irish, there is a risk of thundery showers breaking out later.
Met Éireann predict continued high temperatures for the week, though perhaps not quite the hell-furnace that we are currently enjoying.
"It will then turn to normal temperatures of between 17°C and 21°C, which are still reasonable."
