Internet appalled as mum reveals how she cleans her toilet brushes

Look, keeping a whole home clean is no mean feat.

We've tried every hack under the sun for making it easier to keep on top of housework, no matter how seemingly strange, and have been following cleaning goddess Mrs Hinch religiously and taking all of her words of wisdom. That said, there's a limit to how far we'll go and we think we've just found it. An anonymous mum has put Mumsnet into a spin by proposing a fairly unorthodox method for cleaning toilet brushes. Taking to the parenting forum, the woman asked whether it'd be OK for her to pop them in her dishwasher. As in, the machine she also uses to clean the delph she eats off. "Would it be absolutely disgusting to put loo brushes in the dishwasher on their own, on hot setting, followed by a hot wash on empty??!!!," she wrote. Needless to say, the vast majority of people told her that it might not be the best idea; both from a hygiene perspective and for the environment.

"I am very lax about these sort of things and even I wouldn't! This is the sort of thing bleach should be used for!" "Gag moment. Can’t beleive you’re even considering it."

There was a handful of commenters, however, who told her to go for it.

"Of course it's fine! Dishwashers temperature is set to kill all bugs." "My dishwasher is eco friendly so uses less water than hand washing. I do my 4 loo brushes, pots they go in, pots they stand on (it's a whole contraption) every month in the dishwasher."
