Forecaster Gerry Murphy said:
"Sudden stratospheric warming at the start of the month can sometimes bring cold weather to this part of the world."
"It increases the possibility of very cold weather at the end of the month, but that doesn't mean it will happen."
"It depends on a lot of factors and it's simply too far away to predict."
Six inches of snow is expected for the UK, with a lesser two inches forecasted for Ireland.
Like we said though, Irish weather is unpredictable.
