JK Rowling compared to Voldemort in new Saved by the Bell series

Melissa Carton

I don’t think the Bayside gang are fans.

While for many of us Saved by the Bell is best remembered as a classic late 80s and early 90s show, last year we saw the return of Bayside to our screens.

While some of the old cast including AC Slater and Jessie are part of the main cast there is also a whole new cast of characters and according to one of the latest episodes, they’re not big fans of author JK Rowling.

In the third episode of the second season, the new cast compare JK Rowling to the iconic villain that she herself created, Voldemort.

While discussing a character in the show that they’re trying to avoid mentioning the following conversation is had in which Rowling is fairly roasted by the Gen Z cast.

Character Daisy describes the situation in the episode as “like the one who must not be named from Harry Potter”.

When Aisha asks her if she’s talking about Voldemort the teen corrects her and responds “JK Rowling.”

Over the last couple of years the author, famous for creating the Harry Potter series, has come under fire for her anti-trans comments.

Since making disparaging remarks about transgender women many, including some cast members of the Harry Potter films, have spoken out against Rowling.

With characters and actors in the Saved by the Bell revival who are themselves trans, it’s no surprise that the scriptwriters on the show decided to throw a little shade the Rowling’s way.
