Camogie player Kate Moran was reportedly wearing a helmet during tragic match

Kate sadly passed away on Tuesday, April 19th.

Camogie player Kate Moran was wearing a helmet when she was hit during a match on Easter Monday.

The sportswoman suffered a severe head injury during the game but sadly died from her injuries on Tuesday, April 19th.

According to The Independent, Kate was wearing a helmet when she was hit by a hurl.

It is believed Kate and another player went up for the ball at the same time during the match.

Medics rushed to treat the young woman on the pitch, but she was able to walk away.

However, minutes later Kate collapsed and lost consciousness.

She was then rushed to the hospital in Galway, where she was admitted to ICU.

The 21-year-old will be laid to rest on Friday, April 22nd.

Her funeral mass will take place at the Church of The Sacred Heart, Ryehill, Monivea.

She will then be buried in Templemoyle Cemetery, Newcastle, Athenry.

Her RIP.ie notice reads: “Sadly missed by her loving family, parents Cathal and Mary, siblings Thady, Leah and Saoirse, her loving boyfriend TJ Brennan, grandmothers Bridie Moran and Amelia Murphy, aunts, uncles, relatives, extended family, neighbours, and friends.”

Tributes have been pouring in for Kate since her tragic death.

The young woman was a passionate camogie player and the eldest of four children.

Friends and family remembered her as a “beautiful” person who died playing the game she adored.

Kate was also described as “a tremendous role model”.

Galway Camogie is set to launch an investigation into her untimely passing.
