Tributes paid to “beautiful” Kate Moran who died after tragic camogie match

Kate died from a head injury on Tuesday afternoon.

Tributes have been pouring in since the untimely passing of camogie player Kate Moran.

The young woman died after she suffered a head injury during a match in Co. Galway.

Kate was playing in a game between Athenry and Ardrahan on Easter Monday.

During the match, she was hit and suffered a serious head injury.

Kate was treated on the scene by emergency services who then rushed her to University Hospital Galway.

She was admitted to ICU but sadly passed away on Tuesday afternoon.

The local community is said to be stunned and heartbroken following her unexpected death.

Kate has been remembered as a “tremendous role model” and a “beautiful” young woman.

Local GAA clubs led the tributes.

“Today we learned of the death of our dear club-mate, Kate Moran. This is a terrible tragedy for her family, our club, and our community.”

“Kate will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a tremendous role model for our many underage players and a wonderful leader both on and off the field of play.

“Her bubbly personality will be remembered for eternity.”

Killimordaly Hurling Club shared: “To her parents Cathal and Mary, her siblings Thady, Leah and Saoirse, her boyfriend Tj, the extended Moran and Murphy families we offer our heartfelt sympathies to you all.

“A beautiful young lady taken far too soon playing the game she loved. Rest in Peace Kate.”

Kate was the eldest of four children. She is survived by her parents, Mary and Cathal, her brother Thady and her sisters Saoirse and Leah.
