Prince George turns 8

By George, he has grown.

Today, July 22, marks a very special day.

Prince George – the firstborn son of the Duke of Cambridge and the Duchess of Cambridge – turns eight.

And this birthday, like previous ones, the royal couple has shared a brand new photo of their son – to mark the occasion.

Last night, this adorable snap was shared to Instagram – and we simply cannot get over how grown-up looking little George has gotten all of a sudden – and how very like his dad, Prince William.

The new photo of the future king shows him sitting on on the bonnet of a Land Rover Defender – a nod, many seem to think, to his great grandfather, Prince Philip, who passed away in April of this year, just a few weeks short of his 100th birthday.

The Duke of Edinburgh regularly drove Land Rovers and during his funeral, his coffin was carried by a specially adapted defender, which he helped design.

The snap was taken by proud mum Kate at the family’s Amner Hall home in Norfolk. The Duchess has become a bit of a family photographer for the royal family of late, and many of the portraits we get to see of the royal children are taken by none other than their mother.

William and Kate were married 10 years back in April, and shared this adorable family video to mark the occasion:
