Family of mum-of-two murdered in Spain issue statement

Kirsty Ward's partner has been arrested in connection with her murder.

The family of Kirsty Ward has issued a statement after the mum-of-two was murdered in Spain. They have also released a photo of the late 36-year-old. Kirsty Ward was found dead in a hotel corridor by staff on Sunday night. Police were alerted after the mum's body was discovered at the Costa Dorada resort of Salou. Her family has asked for privacy during this heartbreaking time. They stated: "The Department of Foreign Affairs is liaising with the family of mother of one Kirsty Ward from Dublin." "The family will not be making any further comment or statements and ask for privacy during this distressing time." He was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted wounds before being moved to a prison in Spain. Armed guards escorted him to the hospital before he was taken into police custody, The Independent reports. He was refused bail after appearing before a Spanish court. He will remain in prison in Spain as the investigation continues. Ms. Ward arrived in Salou just two days before her untimely death. It is believed she was on holiday with the murder suspect. The pair were reportedly sharing a room at the hotel.
